Who this?

Hi, i’m quartzshard. Either half of my name is fine if you’re lazy, and I’ve gone by a few others as well. I’m in my 20s, a qualified Biochemist, embedded software engineer, Rust enthusiast and massive all round nerd.

I’ve written a lot of software in my years since discovering that I could make computers do what I wanted them to (What a concept!), most of it is Trash Garbage and will never see the light of day. Some examples of stuff that did make the cut:

• solunareclipse1 and I make As above, So below, a spiritual successor to the alchemy mods of old.
• lmao.box, a dumb titanfall 2 mod that gives everyone aimbot

• Several People - It likes to type (invite) (source). There’s also a version for discord out there somewhere

• I’ve been slowly pulling together revolt-botkit, which is a rust wrapper around the revolt/stoatchat internal crates that aims to make simple bot users quick to slap together, by handing setting up an async event listener and caching stuff for you. It’s not very good. It’ll get better as I continue to build rutile, which is an Inactive User Pruning bot. There’s also dadbot, who’s my favorite creation :)

I work in a startup aimed at revolutionising healthcare diagnostics. I can’t say too much for both legal and “the company website has my face on it” reasons, but I’m always happy to chat about the field in general. Maybe once the last scraps of my online anonymity vanishes I’ll post more here.

I’m most active on the chat platform revolt, and prefer Signal for private communications.

I enjoy videogames of the factory building variety. I got factorio just over a year ago and have >300hrs as of writing. I’m also fond of movement shooters, particularly TF2 (both of them).

I’m from the North of England and currently live and work in the South of England. This causes me great anguish.

I don’t enjoy writing about myself, so I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my world.
